For the 3rd consecutive year the Brewers took on the Charros to open the season. It started off as a nice day at Coronado H.S. with the forecast calling for a change in the weather in the early afternoon. The Brewers started off strong as starting pitcher Wirt sat down the first 3 Charros in order in the top of the 1st bringing up the Brewers bats. B. Holler lead off the game with a single then proceeded to steal second base. After the next two Brewers struck out, Hendricks nocked in B. Holler with an RBI single to make the score 1-0 Brewers. However the Charros struck in the 2nd scoring 2 runs neither of them earned due to several Brewers miscues and an error. The Brewers were able to answer in the bottom of the 2nd scoring only one run despite having the bases loaded with no outs. The Charros took back the lead in the 3rd scoring 2 more runs getting 3 hits and a walk in the inning, making it a 4-2 game. The Brewers pitching trying to keep the team in the game then went on to pitch 4 straight 1-2-3 inning agains the Charros. Unfortunately over that same time, the Brewrs were unable to get their bats going. The Charros we're able to bring in another earned run in the 8th and an un-earned run in the 9th making the score 6-2 with the Brewres coming up in the bottom of the 9th. Dryer lead the 9th off with a walk, followed by a fly out by E. Williams. Hendricks then doubled off the fence moving Dryer to 3rd with 1 out. Goldberg then struck out followed by a walk to E. Gossage and a bases loaded walk to Meals making the final score 6-3.
