With the best weather of the season so far the Brewers took on the Rockhounds at Coronado High School. The Rockhounds drew first blood by scoring off of Brewers starting pitcher Wirt in the top of the first. After getting the first two batters he faced, Wirt gave up back to back doubled to Reardon and Jones making the score 1-0. The Brewers didn't answer until the 4th inning going down 1-2-3 in the first 2 innings and only plating 4 in the 3rd. But the Brewers bats woke up in the bottom of the 4th with the score still 1-0 Rockhounds. Holler lead the inning off with a walk and then moved to 3rd on a great hit and run by Dryer. Dryer then stole 2nd right before F. Vaughn knocked in both Holler and Dryer with a 2 run single. Hendricks then walked and F. Vaughn moved to 3rd on a stolen base. Goldberg then drove in F. Vaughn with an RBI single, followed by a walk to E. WIlliams and a single by Holcombe... after the 4th the score wan now 6-1 Brewers. The Rockhounds battled back in the 6th bringing in 3 more runs (only 1 earned) on 1 hit and 2 big errors making it 6-4. The Brewers scored again in the 7th after a leadoff single by E. Gossage who scored from 3rd on an error by the left fielder who dropped a would be 3rd out line drive off the bat of F. Vaughn. Wirt then pitched out of a 1 out bases loaded jam in the 8th on a great double play from E. Williams to Holcombe to Hendricks... 5-2-3 to end the inning. Rucker then came into the 9th to close it out, getting the first save of the season. Rucker sat down the only 3 batter he faced with a fly out to center, a strikeout and a easy ground ball back him on the mound. Giving the Brewers the win 7-4 and moving to 1-2 on the season.
