After winning the 2009 NABA, this past weekend the Brewers kicked off the 2010 campaign against the Charros. Other teams have been used to seeing a dominate lefty on the mound for the Brewers... But it wasn't the usual Nick Mcann, but new addition Rob Weins. A pitcher who in the past was a thorn in the side of the Brewers and many other teams in the league. But this season he'll be a focal point of the Brewer Rotation. Weins started the game by striking out the first batter of the game and continued to go for 3 strong innings only giving up one run and striking out 4. The bats started off where they left off last season almost batting around in the first starting the game with a 12 man lineup. The Brewers plated 5 in the first on 5 hits with a 2 RBU double by E. Gossage and a 2 run Home Run by O'Brian. In the 2nd, the Brewers plated another 2 bringing 8 batters to the plate without getting any hits in the inning. Nuss led off the 3rd with a double and scored on an RBI single from Wood. On the mound after Weins went the first 3, E. Gossage came and dished in 3 inning of his own allowing only 1 run and striking out 2. The Brewers scoring ended in the 5th, when T. Meals un-corked a 2 Run Home Run for his first of the season. He also pitched the 8th and final inning of the game, after Vandas pitched the 7th striking out 2 and giving up no hits.
The team did seam a little rusty after a long off season. But considering the layoff, all in all they're looking good and ready to play.
