Brewers hold on to win agains rival Bandits

In only the 2nd game of the season, the Brewers took on one of the NABA powerhouse teams the Bandits.  A very strong team last season, the Bandits got even better upgrading at several key positions with several people in the league already talking about this being a preview of the league championship.  On the mound, the Brewers started with Weins while the Bandits went with Shepherd... their ace until he leaves sometime next month to join his independent team.  Weins started the game by striking out the first two batters he faced, but it wasn't all smooth sailing.  After the first two outs, Dukes got a bunt single and Ballerd laced a single to right making 1st and 2nd and two outs for the Bandits.  Un-rattled Weins bared down and struck out Schneider for the final out of the inning bringing the Brewers to the plate.  With one out in the bottom of the 1st, F. Vaughn on on base after getting hit by the pitch.  He then stole second right before O'Brian drew a walk.  The Brewers then had 3 back to back to back RBIl singles by K. Gossage, Morran and Goldberg bring home the only 3 runs the Brewers would score on the day.  Weins continued to deal on the mound on his way to his 2nd win of the season.  He ended up going 5 full innings, striking out the side 3 time and only giving up 1 earned run on 4 hits.  Over the next few innings at the plate the Brewers continued to get on, but didn't do anything with the opportunity leaving the bases loaded twice.  Morran (POTW) came in to relieve Weins after he went 5 strong.  Morran went 3 innings giving up 1 un-earned run and striking out 7 making the score 3-2 Brewers going into the bottom of the 9th.  It was time to bring in the Brewers closer T. Meals.  Bringing the gas, Meals struck out the first batter of the inning.  The next batter then go on via a tuff error brining up the Bandits Ballerd with one out and a runner on first.  This lead to one of the best plays in Brewers history with J. Vaughn behind the plate who was unable to throw all of last season after hurting his shoulder playing hockey.  Meals struck out Ballerd with some high cheese with the quick Ducks running on the pitch.  J. Vaughn then double pumped coming out from behind the plat ant threw an absolute rod to O'Brian covering the bag and with a no-doubt call ended the game on a strike 'em out throw 'em out play.
