Brewers Hit 8 Home Runs in Sweep of Hondos

The Brewers took the field against the Hondos this past Fathers Day.  As a special treat, and through some technical difficulties the Brewers broadcast their games live over the internet right here on the Brewers website.  This is something you can expect to see more of, especially if the Brewers make it to the league championship at Security Service Field.

Game 1 started on a high note as the Brewers scored 4 quick runs in the first with back to back doubles by Behan and F. Vaughn and a 2 run Home Run by Gossage.  The Brewers plated a 5th run in the first when Meals laced an RBI double down the line scoring Vandaswho singled and stole 2 bases.  On the mound for the Brewers was Jobe, looking to get his 5th win of the season.  Jobe did a great job keeping the Hondos hitters off balance scattering 7 hits, and never really having to pitch out of trouble.  The offense of the Brewers started to hit their stride in the 3rd when J. Vaughn hit his first Home Run of the season and Vandas stole another 2 bases.  In the 4th and 5th the Brewers batted around twice scoring another 23 runs with Gossage (2nd of the game), J. Vaughn (2nd of the game), Mealsand Hartman all hitting Home Runs in the 4th inning.  On the mound Jobe continued to shut down the Hondos, going all 7 (shortened due to the run rule) giving up 7 hits, 2 walks, 1 run and striking out 5 for his 5th win of the year: tying him for the league lead.  The final score of game 1 was the Brewers 30 - Hondos 1.
