Brewers WIN 3rd Consecutive Southern Colorado NABA 18+ Title

IMG_5550

Entering Sunday the Brewers needed two wins to walk away with their 3rd consecutive Southern Colorado NABA 18+ Championship.  The Brewers found themselves in an unfamiliar position entering the playoffs as the number 3 seed with a 11-6 record after entering the playoffs as the 1st seed in each of the last 2 seasons.  In the 9am game the Brewers took on the Athletics (12-4) who handed the Brewers 2 of their regular season losses.  The winner of this game was set to take on the winner of the 12:30pm game between the Bandits (11-1) and the Bullfrogs (8-9) at 4pm for the NABA 18+ Championship.  As fate would have it the Brewers would walk away with a 7-2 win against the Athletics and Bandits would easily beat the Bullfrogs 14-3 thanks to a dramatic walk off Grand Slam by Grant Schnider of the Bandits.  Finally after several seasons of anticipation the Brewers and Bandits met at Sky Sox Stadium to decide the league champion.  Both teams potent offenses were kept at bay by outstanding performances by both teams starting pitchers (Phillips for the Brewers and Shepherd for the Bandits) with both teams only scoring a combined 3 earned runs in the game.  At the end, the Brewers came away with a 5-4 victory with McDonough getting the save with 2 outs in the 9th and the tying run on first by striking out the last batter to end the game.  For more info on the days action, scroll down on the page or click here.
